I love to kiss almost everyone, but mostly mommy and daddy and my big sister Maddy. Every night, daddy says “Give mommy and Maddy kisses”, and I stride over to them, give them purposeful smacks on the lips, and run right back to daddy for my lullaby time.
I even gave a kiss to my new teacher after school the other day, despite my tendency to cry pathetically every time mom drops me off there in the morning. These last few months, I’ve gotten very attached to mommy and now I prefer her to anyone else. I admit I get really clingy and stubborn when I’m feeling at all out of sorts, even though I know it makes other people feel bad that I give them mean looks if they come near me and my mom.
I like to cuddle before bedtime or naptimes. It’s so fun to hug mom or dad, and rock and listen to their songs. When I can tell I’m about to be put in my crib, I employ my “monkey grip” and hug so tight that mommy or daddy has to peel me away to lay me down. Since I started school again, I always get a little nervous that they’re not coming back, so I make sure they feel bad by crying any time they leave me in my room. I get over it quickly and am still sleeping pretty good once I finish my protests.
I like to collect stuff. I think it’s really cool when I get things that go together and play little games with them. I get upset when I can’t find part of a collection.
Here are my favorite collections these days:
1. Syracuse stuff – my stuffed Otto doll, my orange and blue blankie, dad’s Otto frisbee, my Otto baseball cap, and my “Hello Otto” book.
2. Sesame Street stuff – my baby Elmo and Cookie Monster, sesame street CD player (currently missing, oh no!), sesame street puzzle, sesame street stacking toys, Cookie Monster and Abby Caddaby books, and tiny Elmo figurine.
3. Princess stuff – my Baby Belle doll (the “mom” of all the royalty), my Little People princess, queen, king and prince, and Hayden’s little princess.
4. M&M stuff – my Yellow M&M clock, 4 M&M cups with twisty straws, and dad’s M&M candy holder.
5. McDonald’s toys – my fairy, little pony, little kitty, and little puppy Happy Meal toys.
6. Nike clothes – my Nike shorts, track suit and socks (all worn together).
7. Rubber duckies – my miscellaneous collection of about 5 big and small rubber duckies.
8. Froggies – my “Frog in a box” toy and another unrelated stuffed frog.
9. Princess/barbie books – my Barbie mermaid book, my Cinderella book, and my Cinderella/Snow White/Sleeping Beauty book.
It’s not important to me that everything in the collection match perfectly or be intended to go together, just that there is a clear and consistent theme. Oh, and I really really hate it when Hayden tries to take something out of my collection and play with it, because it makes that toy sad when it’s taken away from it’s group.
