Shenanigans
Gavin made fun of me last night for writing in Maddy’s voice, so today I guess I’ll be Meagan and just tell you how entertaining Maddy’s been for Dave and I lately. If only all of you reading this were in California and could experience her craziness in person…
Anyway, in addition to Maddy’s singing, she’s also been doing a lot of RUNNING lately. And I mean fast running. She likes to run around in circles in the middle of the kitchen for no apparent reason.
Some folks at Yahoo! got to witness this energy on Monday when Maddy skipped out on daycare and joined us at work for the morning. At one point she ran out of my cube, and I thought she was going down the row to harass Tess for more crackers, but when I went to look for her 30 seconds later she was trying to bust into a conference room and break up a meeting between a couple VPs.
She also continues to learn new words and talks to us constantly in very urgent tones about whatever is on her mind – our drives home from work are usually punctuated by the following conversations in rapid repetition and rotation:
- “Birdie! Fly! Bye bye!”
- “Milk! Dropped it!”
- “Bike! Bye bye. Bike! Loud!”
- “Cracker! Please!” (thanks to Tess)
- “Plane! Plane! Plane!”
- “Truck! Doodoodoo…” (this is once we get home and usually accompanied by singing and dancing while she listens to the ice cream truck drive by our house).
Maddy likes to describe our feelings, saying things like “Mommy tired” or “Daddy hungry.” And the best was the other day when I was talking to her while putting on her shoes – I said “one shoe, two shoes” and Maddy very clearly followed that up with “one-two-three-four-five-six.” We had no idea she was even learning how to count at daycare.
She’s still a total busybody and gets very caught up in critical tasks like:
- Putting all her crayons in her purse and zipping/unzipping it
- Changing her baby’s diaper (this involves taking out the changing pad and wipes from her own diaper bag, laying her doll on the pad, and wiping both the doll and the diaper pad over and over again – she’s her father’s daughter)
- Finding all 4 remote controls in the family room and piling them strategically into her potty (don’t worry, she hasn’t actually used it as a potty yet)
- Getting her hands on a pen and a notepad, receipt or other scrap of paper and “colkor”ing furiously
- and the list goes on…
This Phamster girl sure is fun to be around – can’t wait to see which of her personality traits carry over to the next one.

Gavin is so wrong to criticize. I love the posts in Maddy’s voice.

And I’ve been looking for one of those hats – really. What are they called and how can I get one?

I don’t know-tough call, but I think I like it better in your voice. Your child is adorable and mom never needs one of those hats. I think it’s cool that you can bring Maddy to your office sometimes. It’s good that your coworkers see you in mom-mode too sometimes.

wow, I’m exhausted just reading about all the things she does and says:)
I can’t wait to catch up!
